John Casken’s piece was commissioned by the Nash Ensemble and first performed in Wigmore Hall in 2017; John will introduce the piece. Borodin’s 2nd Quartet is full of well-known tunes. The Mozart Clarinet Quintet is a classic chamber work and the version by the Carducci Quartet and Julian Bliss was one of the recommended recordings on Radio 3’s ‘Building a Library’ in March 2019.
The Carducci Quartet is a renowned Anglo-Irish string quartet based in the UK who in 2016 received a Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
Julian Bliss is one of the world’s finest clarinettists, excelling as a concerto soloist, chamber musician, jazz artist, masterclass leader and tireless musical explorer.
