Until recently Maria was the leader of the Royal Northern Sinfonia. She is to become the Orchestra’s Artistic Partner from autumn 2024, a role created especially for her with a focus on directing, along with solo and chamber work.

Alasdair works prolifically as a soloist and chamber musician, adept on modern and historical instruments. He champions a wide repertoire with particular areas of interest including Schubert, Schumann and particularly Gabriel Fauré, who died 100 years ago in 1924.

Maria and Alasdair regularly perform together.
